When Life Gives You Citrus… Make a Mocktail!

When the sun’s out and your body’s begging for something juicy and cold, make this citrus mocktail recipe! I promise you, it will become a favorite because it’s beyond refreshing, easy to make, and so very delicious. There is no alcohol in this mocktail, but feel free to add some if that’s what you desire. You can make this in a pitcher and share it with friends or family, and it would be a beautiful offering to this Mother’s Day weekend! Whether you’re brunching with your girls, hanging on the patio, or looking for a fancy way to hydrate, this is the drink to pour. And let’s be honest, it’s cute. Like, really cute. Add in a sprig of rosemary or mint, a slice of Sumo citrus, and one of those chunky round ice cubes (you know the ones), and you’ve got yourself a vibe in a glass.

What Is a Mocktail?

A mocktail is a non-alcoholic drink that’s made to look and feel like a cocktail, just minus the booze. They’re perfect for anyone who’s skipping alcohol but still wants a fun, fancy drink. Think: brunch, baby showers, happy hour…but sober.

Hydrating Citrus Mocktail Ingredients

  • Sumo Citrus Juice: Sumo citrus is basically the Beyoncé of oranges—bold, sweet, and ridiculously juicy. It adds the perfect pop of sunshiney flavor and a gorgeous golden hue to your mocktail. If you can find it, use it! Any other citrus will work for this recipe!
  • Coconut Water: Hydrating, refreshing, and subtly sweet, coconut water gives this mocktail a little electrolyte boost. It keeps the drink light while adding just enough body and natural sweetness.
  • Elderflower Syrup: This is my secret floral touch that takes the mocktail from basic to bougie. It’s soft, fragrant, and plays so well with citrus. If you can’t get your hands on this good stuff, feel free to sub with honey, maple syrup, or your sweetener of choice.
  • Lemon Juice: Zippy and bright, lemon juice balances out the sweetness with just the right amount of tang. It brings that perfect citrus punch that makes every sip feel alive.
  • Seltzer: Bubbles make everything better. The seltzer adds that fizzy finish and turns this drink into a refreshing, feel-good moment.
  • Sumo Citrus Slice (for garnish): It’s a garnish AND a snack. That juicy orange wheel is pure sunshine and makes your drink feel like it came from a fancy spa.
  • Fresh Rosemary or Mint (for garnish): A sprig of green adds instant chicness and a hint of herbal aroma that pairs perfectly with citrus. Mint is classic and cooling, rosemary is a little more unexpected and earthy—both are fab.

Can I Use Other Citrus in This Recipe?

Of course, while sumo citrus is what I used and in my humble opinion, the best for the job, you can use other citrus fruits. Grapefruit will bring a stronger hit of tang but will be just as bright and a little less sweet. Blood oranges will bring a dramatic colour, vibrant flavor and a lot of depth. Your classic orange or tangerine will also work and will offer a very familiar and comforting flavor to this mocktail.

How to Make Citrus Mocktails

This easy mocktail recipe comes together in under five minutes and feels way fancier than it actually is. Juice your Sumo citrus, squeeze half a lemon, and pour both into a pretty glass. Add coconut water and elderflower syrup. Fill your glass with ice cubes. Top it off with sparkling water or seltzer. Garnish with a citrus slice and a sprig of something green (fresh mint or rosemary are perfect). Stir and sip!

What is Sumo Citrus?

If you haven’t had a Sumo citrus before… what are you waiting for?! It’s a massive, juicy, sweet mandarin that peels like a dream and tastes like sunshine. They’re seasonal, so snag ‘em when you can!

Tips for This Brunch Mocktail

  • Use big ice cubes or round ice balls to keep it chilled without watering it down.
  • Want to batch it? Mix everything but the bubbly ahead of time and top with sparkling water when serving.
  • Looking for a twist? Try adding a splash of grapefruit juice for a slightly bitter edge or muddle in some fresh strawberries for a sweet, juicy pop.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz sumo citrus juice approx one sumo citrus
  • 3 oz coconut water
  • ½ oz elderflower syrup optional
  • ½ lemon juiced
  • seltzer
  • sumo citrus slice for garnish
  • fresh rosemary sprig or fresh mint for garnish

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients except the seltzer into a serving glass, fill with ice, top with seltzer and then garnish with a slice of Sumo citrus and fresh rosemary or mint.

Notes

Mandarin or sweet orange will be a good substitute if sumo citrus is out of season.

When I tell you that this smoothie tastes like my feet up, lounging in the sun, in a cute little bikini, poolside with my favorite cocktail in my hand – I am not playing with you. If you love the zesty, refreshing flavors of a classic margarita but are detoxing, doing a dry month or just want something a little healthier, this is the drink for you. This Healthy Margarita Smoothie is just as energizing and fun as an alcoholic margarita, but it’s packed with vibrant greens, a little zing, and a sweet-citrus kick. This smoothie is basically a party in a glass. Whether you’re celebrating Cinco de Mayo, recovering from the weekend, or just vibing with a healthier lifestyle, this one’s a must-blend! Who are we kidding though? If you want to spice it up and throw in a shot of your favorite tequila – I’m not gonna judge you!

Before we turn your blender into a fiesta, let’s take a quick trip back in time. The margarita is a legendary cocktail believed to have originated in Mexico in the 1930s or 40s—stories vary, but the combo of lime juice, tequila, and triple sec became iconic for a reason.   • Raw honey: Just a touch to round out the flavors. Feel free to skip it if your banana is sweet enough!
  • Ground flax + chia seeds: For fiber, healthy fats, and that satisfying thickness.
  • Celery + Apple: Refreshing, crunchy, and packed with hydration and antioxidants.
  • Coconut water: A natural electrolyte boost that gives this drink its tropical twist.

  • Tajin + lime wedge (for garnish): Because we’re here for the whole experience.

Instructions

  • Simply combine all smoothie ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Rub a slice of fresh lime onto the corner of a glass and sprinkle a little tajin on the side.
  • Pour your smoothie into the glass and garnish with a fresh slice of lime ! Enjoy!

  • Sumo Citrus: This mocktail uses all the Sumo Citrus from the juice to slices for garnish. Instructions

** I used RITUAL rum alternative in this recipe. You can sub for any dark rum of choice. Or omit the rum completely. The fresh tropical flavors are delicious on their own too!

**This mocktail is vegan, if you aren’t dairy free or would like a dairy alternative, you can sub the coconut cream for regular cream (but note, you will be missing that fresh tropical taste!)

Buckle up y’all because this citrus mocktail is so delicious you’ll be asking the bartender for another! Today we are mixing up this delicious non alcoholic sunrise citrus mocktail! It only takes a few minutes to put together, tastes like a dream, or a vacation and will have you feeling vibrant and ready for anything! Perfect for brunching, cute for sipping pool side or a perfect toasting alternative for those not indulging in alcoholic drinks. 

What You Will Need for This Sunrise Citrus Mockail

  • Sumo Citrus Juice: The star of the show, sumo citrus brings a unique, incredibly sweet, and slightly tangy flavor that sets this mocktail apart. Its robust citrus taste is the perfect base for our tropical drink. If sumo citrus is out of season, feel free to use oranges or mandarins for a similar sweet-tart balance.
  • Pineapple Juice: Adds a tropical sweetness and acidity, complementing the citrus flavors beautifully.
  • All Natural Lemon Soda: Introduces the ideal amount of fizzy, enhancing the mocktail’s refreshing quality. I like brands like Ollipop as they have a fiber boost, making this drink not just tasty but healthier. However any fizzy, citrus-flavored soda will do, but opting for a natural or less sugary option can make your mocktail healthier.
  • All Natural Grenadine: Provides a rich, deep red hue that creates the stunning sunrise effect, along with a sweet, tart flavor.

Sunrise Citrus Mocktail

This glowing non alcoholic version of a tequila sunrise is not only the EASIEST Mocktail you could create it’s a true flavor powerhouse! Starring the ultimate citrus powerhouse- sumo citrus, this Mocktail will sweep you away to a tropical island in one sip!

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups sumo citrus juice
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • ¼ cup all natural lemon soda I like ollipop
  • 4 tbsp all natural grenadine
  • ice
  • sumo or orange slices for garnish

Instructions

  • Begin by gathering all your ingredients.
  • Juice your sumo citrus either with a hand juicer or blend and sieve.
  • Add ice to two glasses, then pour half the sumo citrus juice into each glass followed by the half of the pineapple juice, and lemon soda.
  • Lastly add two tbs of grenadine to each glass along with a slice of citrus for garnish and watch your sunrise emerge!!

Notes

** I opted for sumo citrus. If that’s not in season you can absolutely use oranges or mandarins also!
**if you can opt for an all natural lemon soda that’s the best! Ollipop have an amazing fiber rich lemon lime soda! If you can use that. I highly recommend!

  • Pink Pineapple: I just love pink pineapples! They can usually be found in smaller or farmers market-style grocery stores. With their beautiful pink hue and sweeter taste than regular pineapples, they are perfect for this drink. But don’t worry, regular pineapples work just as well!
  • Lemon: Refreshing, bright, and zippy, lemon is the best way to cool down and is great for a healthy digestive system.
  • Coconut Water: Nature’s ultimate body hydrator! Packed with electrolytes, coconut water is a fun way to stay hydrated and adds the perfect amount of natural sweetness.
  • Ice: Adds body, a slushee texture, and makes the drink perfectly cold.

Pink Pineapple Refresher

Hello summer! Hello refreshing, thirst quenching, hydrating, delicious and simple 5 minute homemade pineapple lemonade! Skip the store bought, sugar and additive laden options and make this incredibly satisfying, sweet and tangy electrolyte packed Bev!! Hit that SAVE button and CHEERS to summer!

Notes

I like to leave the pulp in as it adds fibre and nutrients but if you don’t like pulp, strain the liquid through a fine sieve before serving.
