High Protein Chocolate Pudding

This High Protein Chocolate Pudding recipe not only satisfies those decadent dessert cravings but also fits seamlessly into a balanced, health-conscious diet. Proof that with the right ingredients, you can enjoy the sweeter things in life without any of the guilt.

Simple Chocolate Protein Pudding

I kid you not this chocolate pudding recipe is on repeat! I am obsessed with food that seems like you should be guilty but is actually made with wholesome, plant based ingredients! This is the ultimate treat for health enthusiasts and chocolate lovers. This creamy, decadent High Protein Chocolate Pudding is quick to make and includes ingredients that are easy to find no matter where you’re located! Blending the richness of chocolate with the nutritional benefits of high-protein ingredients it’s also dairy-free, refined sugar-free! With ingredients like avocado, vegan protein, and cacao this decadent dessert is the perfect indulgence for anyone looking to satisfy their sweet tooth while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Chocolate Protein Pudding Ingredients

  • Avocados: These provide a creamy, buttery texture that forms the base of our pudding. Rich in healthy fats, and protein and virtually undetectable in taste, avocados make this pudding irresistibly smooth without overpowering the chocolate flavor.
  • Vegan Chocolate Protein Powder: A key ingredient for boosting the protein content, vegan protein powder also enhances the chocolatey taste. It mixes seamlessly into the pudding, adding both flavor and substance. Go to my shop to get a discount on both OWYN and KOS, they both work amazingly for this recipe!
  • Cacao Powder: Loaded with antioxidants, cacao powder not only deepens the chocolate flavor but also adds a healthful boost, making each spoonful both rich and rejuvenating.
  • Vanilla Extract: Just a hint of vanilla enhances the complex flavors of chocolate and masks the subtle taste of avocado, rounding out the sweet and savory notes of the pudding.
  • Coconut Milk: Adds a creamy, tropical flavor and helps blend all the ingredients into a smooth consistency. Coconut milk is also great for adding richness without dairy.
  • Maple Syrup: Optional for those who prefer a sweeter pudding. Since the protein powder often contains sweeteners, the addition of maple syrup depends on your taste preference.

How to Make Chocolate Protein Pudding

Start by adding ripe avocados, vegan chocolate protein powder, cacao powder, vanilla extract, a pinch of salt, and coconut milk into a blender or food processor. Blend everything until the mixture becomes silky smooth. For those who like it sweeter, adjust the sweetness with maple syrup to taste.

Once blended, pour the pudding into glass jars, and top with cacao nibs and a sprig of fresh mint for an extra touch of freshness and elegance. This simple process makes a deliciously smooth chocolate pudding that’s ready in minutes!

Can You Use Whey Protein Powder?

While this recipe is designed to be completely vegan, whey protein powder can be used as an alternative if you’re not avoiding dairy or if it’s what you have on hand. Whey protein blends well and adds a creamy texture, making it a suitable option for those who prefer it. If you are going to use a non-vegan protein make sure its flavor still compliments the recipe!

Chocolate Protein Pudding Tips and Tricks

To ensure your chocolate pudding is perfectly creamy and flavorful, here are a few tips:

  • Choose avocados that are just the right ripeness—not too hard and not overly ripe—to achieve the smoothest texture.
  • If using a sweetened protein powder, you might want to skip the additional sweeteners. Taste as you blend to adjust the sweetness to your liking.
  • For an extra smooth texture, sieve the mixture to remove any unblended bits of avocado or cacao.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 medium avocados
  • 2 scoops vegan chocolate protein powder
  • 2 tbsp cacao powder
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 can coconut milk
  • 1-2 tbsp maple syrup optional

Instructions

  • Simply combine all ingredients in a high-speed blender or food processor and blend until silky smooth and creamy.
  • Scoop into glass jars for serving and top with cacao nibs and fresh mint.

Notes

** aim to use soft but not too ripe of an avocado.
**I opted for a vegan protein powder. I like KOS and OWYN. They taste amazing, combine beautifully and are clean and additive-free. They are both available for a discount in my shop!
** the sweetener is completely optional. I find that the addition of a protein powder that’s sweet is not needed. But please add as much sweetener as you’d like to taste. I’d suggest blending without the sweetener. Testing it and adding sweetener to your liking 🙂

I’m always on the lookout for healthy treat ideas and this pudding is a new favorite! Made it for dessert and it’s so ultra creamy and chocolatey and easy to make. It feels decadent and rich but I love that it’s made with healthy ingredients. The added protein is great and makes it a more satisfying dessert. I added a touch of maple syrup to reach just the right amount of sweetness. The other ingredients do a surprisingly good job of masking the taste of the avocado so it’s a win! It pairs well with vegan whipped cream and berries, and I’m sure the recommended cacao nibs and mint would be delicious toppings as well. Great recipe! Will make again.
