An Introduction to BBQ Bliss

Close your eyes and picture this: A bowl filled to the brim with smoky, saucy deliciousness that’s just waiting to be devoured. That’s precisely what my Summer Backyard BBQ Protein Bowl is all about! At the heart of this masterpiece are my absolute favorite BBQ protein shreds, courtesy of the talented folks at @tmrwfoods. Let’s talk about TEXTURE, folks! These shreds are a game-changer, and the smoky BBQ sauce they’re bathed in is nothing short of perfection. I’m not just obsessed; I’m head over heels! 

What you will need for this BBQ Protein Bowl:

  • SMOKEY BBQ PROTEIN SHREDS: I found a great Smokey BBQ pack from tomorrow foods. But you can easily sub for any protein shreds or flavored tofu! 
  • CELERY: such a beautiful fresh crunch. I simply used a vegetable peeler to cut ribbons and put them in ice water! They curled instantly! 
  • PURPLE CAULIFLOWER: I love purple cauliflower! One of the most beautiful and vibrant veggies out there! Flavor wise you can absolutely sub for normal cauliflower! 
  • RED BELL PEPPER: sweet crunch delicious and full of vitamins. I adore red bell peppers! It’s so gentle on your tummy too. And easily digested 
  • CARROT: there’s nothing a carrot can’t do! So sweet and delicious. And goes so well with the bbq smokiness 
  • CILANTRO: add such a bright floral note. I get that you either love or hate cilantro so feel free to omit! 
  • VEGAN MAYO: there are some amazing vegan mayos out there now! So creamy! 
  • NON DAIRY MILK: I used almond. Just make sure it’s unsweetened and not flavored 
  • APPLE CIDER VINEGAR: perfect to add a zip to this ranch 
  • PARSLEY: feels like summer! Fresh and bright 
  • DILL: adding that amazing herbal note. Perfect with the bbq flavors 
  • ONION POWDER: this powder is so mighty in flavor. A pantry staple and adds depth to the ranch 

Paired with crispy, crunchy veggies and a generous drizzle of creamy ranch, this bowl is a certified winner. So, let’s dive into this recipe and embark on a journey of SUMMER BOWL GOALS! 

Prep the Veggies

Begin by preparing your veggies. For the celery, use a vegetable peeler to create thin ribbons, and place them in a bowl of water to make them curl – it’s a beautiful touch.

Whisk Up the Ranch

In a mixing bowl, combine all the ranch dressing ingredients – vegan mayo, non-dairy milk, apple cider vinegar, crushed garlic, dried parsley, dried dill, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Whisk until everything is thoroughly combined, and set it aside.

Prepare the Protein Shreds

Follow the package instructions to prepare your Smokey BBQ protein shreds.

Assemble Your Bowl

Now, it’s time to bring everything together. In your serving bowl, add all the separate ingredients – the BBQ protein shreds, corn, shaved celery, chopped purple cauliflower, chopped red bell pepper, grated carrot, and fresh cilantro. This is where the magic happens!

Summer Backyard BBQ Protein Bowl

FEAST YOUR BEAUT LIL EYES on my bbq bowl of Smokey saucey yums!!! Starring my absolute FAVIEST BBQ protein shreds from my mates over at @tmrwfoods The TEXTUREEE you guys! and the Smokey bbq sauce of these shreds is legit unrivaled. Obsessed is an understatement. Combined with crispy crunchy veggies and what’s a bbq without ranch! This bowl is a winnerrrr!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pack smokey bbq protein shreds
  • corn
  • 1 stalk celery shaved
  • ½ cup purple cauliflower chopped, raw
  • ½ red bell pepper chopped
  • 1 carrot grated
  • fresh cilantro

Ranch Dressing Ingredients

  • cup vegan mayo
  • ¼-½ cup any non-dairy milk unsweetened
  • tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 3 garlic cloves crushed
  • ½ tbsp dried parsley
  • 1 tsp dried dill
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp paprika
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Prepare your veggies. For the celery. Make thin ribbons with your veggie peeler then drop into a bowl of water- this creates those beautiful curls!!
  • For the dressing; combine all ingredients into your bowl and whisk thoroughly to combine. Then set aside.
  • Prepare your protein shreds according to package instructions and then it’s time to assemble!
  • Add all your separate ingredients into a bowl. And serve with that delishhh creamy ranch for the bbq gasm you’ve always wanted!!!
