  • Organic diced tomatoes: Adds a tangy, rich base with that classic tomato flavor every pizza needs. You can use fresh tomatoes or canned.

  • Onion powder and garlic powder: Essential for adding depth and savory flavor.
  • Oregano: A must-have for any pizza-inspired dish, giving that unmistakable Italian herb flavor; again fresh or dried will work in this recipe.
  • Salt: Enhances all the flavors and ties them together.
  • Nutritional yeast: Adds a cheesy, umami punch while keeping the recipe dairy-free and vegan. You can add as much or as little of this as you’d like adjust according to taste!
  • Fresh basil leaves: Brings bright, aromatic notes that scream “pizza!”
  • Olive oil: Provides richness and a silky texture. You could use another type of oil here however I would highly suggest olive as it provides that undeniable hummus silkiness and flavor.

How to Make Pizza Hummus

Creating this vegan pizza hummus is quick, simple, and perfect for busy days:

Blend the ingredients

Drain diced tomatoes and add all the ingredients into a high-speed blender or food processor. Blend until the mixture is smooth, creamy, and thick.

Adjust the texture

If the hummus is too thick, add a splash of aquafaba (the liquid from canned chickpeas) or a little more olive oil until it reaches your desired consistency.

Serve and garnish

Scoop the hummus into a bowl, drizzle with extra virgin olive oil, and sprinkle with red pepper flakes for a touch of heat.

Ways to Customize Your Pizza Hummus

This pizza hummus recipe is easy to personalize, making it even more delicious and exciting. For a spicy twist, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or an extra sprinkle of red pepper flakes to bring some heat to the creamy dip. If you love extra texture and flavor, stir in chopped dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, or roasted red peppers. For a cheesier vibe, sprinkle in some mozzarella shreds to make it taste even more like pizza.

My family loved this!! Even when I failed to drain the tomatoes and it was a lot looser 😆 The flavor is so so good, my 8 year old took it for a school snack with pretzels! A total keeper, we will make it a lot!
