If you love steak and cheese, these cheesy steak crescent roll bites are about to become your new favorite appetizer. Tender shaved steak and sharp cheddar cheese are tucked inside buttery crescent roll dough, brushed with melted butter, and finished with everything bagel seasoning.
They bake up golden and delicious with warm, melty cheese tucked inside every bite. And because they use pre-cooked steak, they come together in just 25 minutes, making them an easy option when you’re entertaining.
These little bites have everything you want in an easy appetizer: they’re cheesy, savory, buttery, and incredibly simple to assemble.
The combination of seasoned shaved steak and aged cheddar gives them plenty of flavor, while the crescent roll dough creates a soft, golden exterior. A sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning adds a little extra savory crunch on top.
They’re also perfectly bite-sized, which makes them ideal for serving at parties and gatherings. Put a platter out and watch them disappear!
Crescent roll dough: Refrigerated crescent roll dough makes these bites quick and easy to assemble. Cutting each triangle in half creates the perfect size for a bite-sized appetizer.
Shaved steak: Use sautéed shaved steak seasoned to your liking. Since the steak is already cooked before assembling the bites, this recipe comes together quickly.
Aged cheddar cheese: I used Old Croc Grand Reserve Cheddar, which has a deliciously sharp, rich flavor that pairs beautifully with the steak. Cut the cheese into small cubes so it fits neatly inside each crescent bite.
Butter: Melted butter adds richness and helps the everything bagel seasoning stick to the dough.
Everything bagel seasoning: A sprinkle on top adds a delicious savory finish and a little texture.
Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Slice the cheddar and cut it into 16 small cubes, approximately ½ to ¾ inch each. Set aside.
Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate the triangles. Cut each triangle in half to create 16 smaller triangles.
Gently press down on the wide end of each triangle to flatten it slightly. This creates a small base for the steak and cheese filling.
Place a spoonful of sautéed shaved steak onto the wide end of each crescent triangle. Add one cube of cheddar cheese on top.
Try not to overfill them. Keeping the filling compact makes the bites easier to roll and helps keep the cheese tucked inside as they bake.
Starting at the wide end, roll the dough forward over the steak and cheese, gently tucking the filling inside as you go.
Wrap the pointed end around and underneath the bite to help seal it.
Place the assembled bites on the prepared baking sheet. Brush each one with melted butter and sprinkle evenly with everything bagel seasoning.
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crescent dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Let the bites cool for a few minutes, then serve warm while the cheese is still deliciously melty.
Don’t overfill the crescent dough. A spoonful of steak and one small cube of cheese is plenty. Too much filling can make the dough difficult to seal.
Seal the dough well. Tucking the pointed end underneath helps keep the steak and melted cheese contained while baking.
Cut the cheese into uniform pieces. Keeping the cubes around the same size helps the bites bake evenly.
Use pre-cooked steak. This recipe is especially convenient when you have leftover sautéed steak on hand. Just make sure it’s cut or shaved into small pieces so it’s easy to tuck into the crescent dough.
Watch the final few minutes. Crescent roll dough can go from golden to overdone quickly, so keep an eye on the bites toward the end of the baking time.
Shaved steak works beautifully in these crescent roll bites because the thin pieces are easy to portion and wrap inside the dough.
You can use freshly sautéed shaved steak seasoned to your liking, or this recipe is a great way to use leftover cooked steak. Just chop it into small pieces before adding it to the crescent dough.
Absolutely! I love the sharp flavor of aged cheddar with the steak, but you can easily switch up the cheese.
Cheddar gives you a classic steak-and-cheese combination with plenty of flavor.
Provolone would be delicious if you want more of a Philly cheesesteak-inspired bite.
Pepper Jack would add a little heat and extra creaminess.
Mozzarella will give you that wonderfully stretchy, melty cheese.
Whichever cheese you choose, cut it into small cubes so it fits neatly inside each bite.
These steak and cheese bites are delicious on their own, but I love serving them with a simple sriracha mayo for dipping. Just mix mayonnaise and sriracha together until you reach your preferred level of heat.
Start with a little sriracha and add more to taste. The creamy, slightly spicy sauce is the perfect contrast to the savory steak, melted cheddar, and buttery crescent roll dough.
These cheesy steak crescent roll bites are perfect when you need something easy that still feels special. They’re small enough to serve as finger food and hearty enough to satisfy a hungry crowd.
Serve them at Christmas parties, holiday gatherings, game day celebrations, birthday parties, or casual get-togethers. They’re also a great appetizer to make when you have leftover steak that you don’t want to waste.
The combination of golden crescent dough, savory steak, melted cheddar, and everything bagel seasoning makes these little bites hard to resist.
