What are Ginger Turmeric Shots?

Ginger turmeric shots are small, concentrated drinks made from potent ingredients like fresh ginger, turmeric powder, and lemon juice. Known for their anti-inflammatory properties, these wellness shots are great for supporting immune function and overall health.

Ingredient Wellness Shots Worth the Hype

  • Fresh Ginger: Ginger is a powerhouse when it comes to wellness. Many people around the world use it for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Fresh ginger also helps soothe digestion, making it a natural remedy for nausea and bloating. It’s also great for boosting the immune system and fighting off colds. The spicy kick from ginger adds a warming element to these shots, making them both refreshing and invigorating.
  • Turmeric Powder: Turmeric is often hailed as one of the most potent anti-inflammatory spices on the planet. The active compound, curcumin, helps reduce inflammation in the body and is known for its antioxidant properties. While turmeric powder is more convenient and has a longer shelf life than fresh turmeric, it still packs the same punch when it comes to health benefits. Combined with black pepper, turmeric’s curcumin is more easily absorbed by the body, ensuring you get the full anti-inflammatory benefits.
  • Lemon Juice: Fresh lemon juice is a great source of vitamin C, a vital nutrient for maintaining a healthy immune system. It also helps detoxify the body by promoting hydration and supporting liver function. The bright, tangy flavor of lemon cuts through the stronger elements of ginger and turmeric, balancing the shot perfectly and giving it that fresh, zesty sunshine taste we all love.
  • Black Pepper: You likely will not taste the black pepper in this recipe but it plays a very important role so don’t skip it! Black pepper enhances the bioavailability of curcumin in turmeric, which means your body can absorb the beneficial compounds more effectively.
  • Maple Syrup: If you love the zing and spice of ginger turmeric shots just as they are you can leave the maple out. If you want to sip or just don’t like that powerful flavor punch, a little maple syrup goes a long way and adds a natural sweetness. Honey or agave would also be great natural sweeteners.

How to Make Lemon Ginger Turmeric Shots in a Blender

No need for fancy equipment – this turmeric shot recipe can be made using just a blender! Here’s how to do it:

Add 3 cups of coconut water, juice of 3 lemons, 2 thumb-sized pieces of fresh ginger, 1 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder, 1-2 tbsp of maple syrup, and a pinch of black pepper to your blender. Blend until the mixture is smooth and thoroughly combined.

Strain the liquid through a fine metal sieve into a large jug or measuring cup. Pour the strained juice into 2oz reusable shot jars or a mason jar for storing in the fridge. This method makes it easy to whip up a batch of ginger turmeric lemon shots and store them for later!

The Turmeric Lemon Ginger Shots Benefits

  • Immune Support: The combination of fresh ginger, turmeric, and lemon is perfect for giving your immune system a boost, especially during cold and flu season.
  • Anti-Inflammatory: Both ginger and turmeric have powerful anti-inflammatory properties, making these turmeric shots ideal for reducing inflammation in the body.
  • Improved Digestion: Ginger is well-known for its ability to soothe the stomach and aid digestion.
  • Energy Boost: These wellness shots are a quick, natural pick-me-up to help keep you energized throughout the day.

Ways to Drink Ginger Turmeric Shots

Enjoy this drink however you please, you can make it quick and take it like a shot or you could mix it with nut milk for a more creamy drink. I even enjoy pouring this mix into ice cube trays and using a cube or two into my morning smoothie or tea to cool it off. The best thing about the simplicity of these wellness shots is how convenient it is to experiment with! Making these wellness shots is also very quick and requires minimal cleanup. I used a NutriBullet for this recipe and it worked perfectly. If you want to grab all the essentials click here.
