Citrus Creamsicle Smoothie

Experience a twist on a classic with my Citrus Creamsicle Smoothie, featuring sumo citrus and bananas. This creamy, vegan smoothie offers a nostalgic taste with a modern, healthy spin, perfect for a refreshing breakfast or snacking.

I don’t know about you but when I was a child my absolute favorite flavor of anything was creamsicle.

There was something about it that just screamed summer and since it wasn’t always an option or the healthiest I only got to indulge once and a while. Now as an adult, I do what I want which means that I turn childhood favourites into healthy, plant based, nutritious desserts, snacks and smoothies so that the child in me can have what I want – when I want! Take a delicious walk down memory lane with me and indulge in this Citrus Creamsicle Smoothie! I’ve given this classic treat a zesty upgrade with the amazing sumo citrus – it’s sweet, juicy, and just perfect for the flavour profile of all of our inner child dreams!

Enjoy All the Benefits of This Citrus Creamsicle Smoothie

  • Sumo Citrus (or citrus of choice): I chose to go with sumo citrus because of their taste and the fact that they are ALWAYS juicy! There is nothing worse than opening a DRY citrus. Of course, feel free to use any citrus of your choice as long as it’s bursting with vitamin C and natural sweetness, this fruit adds a necessary refreshing zing.
    Bananas: Naturally sweet and packed with potassium for an energy boost.
    Vegan Greek-Style Yogurt: Great for your gut health; yogurt in combination with the plant milk of your choice makes the ideal creaminess for your vegan creamsicle smoothies.
    Plant Milk of Choice: Light and dairy-free, it perfectly complements the creamy texture of the smoothie.
    Citrus Peel: A zesty garnish that enhances the flavour and appearance.

You’d be surprised at how beautiful a smoothie can become with a few swirls of yogurt. The process is way easier than you’d think; all you need to do is add a little yogurt onto the back of a spoon and swirl it inside your serving glasses. Pop your cup in the fridge to chill until you’re ready to pour the rest of your drink.

Citrus Creamsicle Smoothie

Just when you thought those nostalgic orange creamsicle flavors couldn’t get any better….. Move over oranges! There’s a new citrus in town!!! Sumo citrus!! And it gives the most mind warpingly DELICIOUS bump of flavor to this creamsicle smoothie!

Equipment

  • blender

Ingredients
  

  • 2 sumo citrus (or citrus of choice) peeled, segmented, frozen
  • 3 bananas sliced, fresh
  • 2 cups vegan Greek-style yogurt
  • cup plant milk of choice
  • extra vegan Greek yogurt to line the serving glasses
  • citrus peel for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Begin by preparing the serving glasses. With the back of a spoon, swipe yogurt on the inside of the serving glasses and leave it to chill in the fridge.
  • Then, to a blender, add the frozen sumo citrus, banana, yogurt and plant milk. Blend until silky smooth
  • Remove the beautifully prepared glasses from the fridge and pour in the smoothie. Garnish with fresh sumo citrus rind and enjoy!

Notes

If you are using citrus that is a little tart. Add 1-2 tbs of maple syrup for sweetness
