Ingredients for Making Apple and Cucumber Smoothie

  • REBBL Oat Milk Based Smoothie Starter: This plant milk-based starter is packed with protein and gut-healthy probiotics. It serves as a creamy base for the smoothie, ensuring that it’s not only delicious but also beneficial for your digestive health. If you cannot find this local to you I would suggest substituting it with 1 scoop of your protein powder and 1 cup of oat milk. This will provide you with the same smooth texture and protein boost.
  • Fresh Spinach: A large handful of fresh spinach adds a huge boost of vitamins, minerals, and fibre. Spinach is a fantastic way to get your daily greens without a strong taste as it’s much more mild than kale and does not overpower the other flavors of the smoothie. It also gives the smoothie that super healthy uber green colour!
  • Granny Smith Apple: This green apple variety is perfect for smoothies as it’s tart and does not make the smoothie too sweet. Granny Smith apples are known for their crisp texture and refreshing tartness, which balances the sweetness of the other ingredients. Green apples, honey crisps or any other apple available to you will also work for this recipe.
  • Cucumber: Use one cup of chopped cucumber for a refreshing, hydrating element. Cucumbers are mostly water, making them excellent for hydration and detoxification. English cucumbers are ideal for their mild flavor and thin skin, which means you don’t need to peel them.
  • Banana: Adds natural sweetness and creaminess to the smoothie. Bananas are rich in potassium and provide a smooth texture to the drink, making it more enjoyable and satisfying.
  • Ground Flax: One tablespoon of ground flaxseed provides omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and protein. Flaxseeds are known for their anti-inflammatory properties and ability to support heart health. They also naturally thicken the consistency of the smoothie.
  • Greens Powder: A scoop of greens powder adds extra nutrients and a boost of vitamins. Greens powders typically contain a blend of superfoods like spirulina, chlorella, and wheatgrass, which can significantly increase the smoothie’s nutritional content.
  • Dates: Two dates add natural sweetness and fiber. They are great for balancing the tartness of the Granny Smith apple and provide a caramel-like flavor that enhances the overall taste of the smoothie.
  • Lemon Juice: The juice from half a small lemon adds a fresh, zesty flavor and helps with detoxification. Lemon juice is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, which support the immune system and aid in digestion.
  • Ice: 1-2 cups of ice will keep this smoothie fresh and cool.
