What Is Pink Dragon Fruit?

Pink dragon fruit, also known as pitaya, is a tropical fruit with bright magenta flesh and tiny black seeds. It has a mild sweetness that pairs beautifully with tropical fruits like pineapple, mango, and coconut.

Not only is pink dragon fruit visually stunning, but it also blends into smoothies beautifully, creating a creamy texture and a vibrant natural color that instantly brightens your day.

If you’ve ever walked past frozen dragon fruit packets at the grocery store and wondered what to do with them, this smoothie is the perfect place to start.

Tips For The Best Dragon Fruit Smoothie

Use Frozen Fruit

Frozen dragon fruit and pineapple create a thick, creamy texture without needing ice, which can dilute the flavour.

Adjust The Sweetness

Dragon fruit can vary in sweetness, so taste your smoothie before serving and add honey as needed.

Don’t Skip The Lemon

The small amount of lemon juice helps brighten the tropical flavors and makes the dragon fruit taste even more vibrant.

Add The Yogurt Swirl

A spoonful of yogurt swirled into the bottom of the glass isn’t just pretty, it adds extra creaminess with every sip and creates that gorgeous contrast against the bright pink smoothie.

Variations

Want to make this smoothie your own? Try one of these easy variations:

  • Add banana for extra creaminess
  • Blend in spinach for a hidden veggie boost
  • Use Greek yogurt for additional protein
  • Add a scoop of vanilla protein powder
  • Swap pineapple for mango for an even more tropical flavor
